What Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum said after catastrophic injury

The devastating Achilles injury, which Jayson suffered in game 4, seriously weighed the heads of his Boston Celtics teammates.

Tatum was subjected to a successful operation on Tuesday to repair his broken Achilles, and remained in New York, while the team – literally and figuratively – moved on without the Celtics star.

But Derrick White, who has a close connection to Tatum, still wanted to show his teammate his support in a way, which led to the fact that White sends a thoughtful message for Tatum who has several months of a strenuous rehab process.

“Obviously it is difficult to see,” White told reporters to Boston's game 5, according to the Boston Herald's Zack Cox. “I wrote him an SMS. And that was all I could do it was really to write him an SMS. Just tell him that we will believe in him and he will have a great comeback from this setback. There is really not much that I can do, especially at this moment, but I will support him throughout his trip, and I know that he has to do everything he has to do to get back there.”

White did his best to honor Tatum, and channeled the Celtics star with his game 5. White was a catalyst at the win of 127-102 and flowed 34 points from seven 3-converter.

White also did the job in other areas. In order to take part with his hot shooting hand, the 6-foot 4-wachmann went 9:11 from the free-wing line and also achieved three blocks. It was a unique statistics of White-Eine that, according to Cox, was only carried out two other times in NBA history-and one that was urgently needed for the Celtics with Tatum.

“It is not the case that someone can step and do what JT does at the level he does,” said White. “So we have to play a little differently and just find ways to create offensive, to recover, just everything he does on the pitch. Everyone has to move up. We did it tonight and we have to try to find a way to win game 6.”
