He would die later in the hospital.

The family tells News4jax that Matthew has worked in the road construction industry in the past two years and has worked next to his father next to his father at the Green Cove Springs.

However, they said that the worst part of the incident was that Matthew's father was there when it happened.

“I can't explain it,” said his father. “I have moments when I can keep it collected, and there are moments when I just fall apart. You know that this is my own son, you know … it's just terrible, I can't put it in words.”

Sharie Thompson, Matthew's mother, said her son was the heart of the family and has “the pure soul”.

“Matthew has touched the life of many people with his bright and radiant and radiant,” she said.

His parents also described him as someone who loved God, his family and was a great Jokester.

The parents added that they believe that this entire incident was an unfortunate accident, but they want people to slow down when they drive through construction zones.

“These are the family members of someone, the son of a person, the father of someone, someone's uncle,” said Sharrie, adding that nobody deserves it while trying to work.

Sharrie tells News4jax, her son was also an organ donor and adds that others could live because of his generosity and selflessness.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman who has beaten Matthew works with her investigation.

News4jax contacted FHP for a comment on this story, but has not received an answer.

The family has created a gofundme to help with funeral costs that can be found here.
