What to do if there is a tornado warning

If a tornado warning is issued, make sure that you have your safety plan in mind.

Find out of outer walls and windows on the lowest level of your home, preferably in your basement. If you have no basement or access to a basement in your residential building, an inner bath is preferred without outer walls or windows on the lowest level. Bring your children and pets to this safe place.

Give your best to keep away from windows and outer walls when a tornado warning comes into force to avoid flies of glass and rubble, and to reduce the risk of being injured when a tornado ends up and your home is damaged.

Make sure you have a way to monitor the weather and weather notifications such as a weather app. Our first Alert weather team will be live with current reporting over the minute during the tornado warnings to get you the information you need as soon as possible in our stream.
