Fourteen houses that were evacuated in a residence in Lehi over dangerously high earth gass levels

Fourteen houses in a Lehi district were evacuated on Thursday after the firefighting teams reacted to reports on a smell of gas within a residence in which the natural gas mirror was dangerously high.

Lehi Fire Crews were called to the area of 2700 North and 891 west after Enbridge Gas had been applied for for support for a home go from Home Gas. It was found that the earth's gass mirror within the residence comes halfway from explosives. From great caution, 14 houses nearby were evacuated.

Firefighters worked with Enbridge gas staff and confirmed that the problem for the original home was isolated. The gas supply of the residence was switched off and the gas mirrors were monitored every 15 minutes. After the levels dropped to a safer range, the firefighters ventilated the house by opening doors and windows. The gas mirrors later returned to a safe level.

Firefighters said that the evacuation order would exist, since Enbridge gas continues to evaluate the underground gas content in the area.

No injuries were reported.
