Thanks to a late goal by striker Andrei Svechnikov, the Carolina Hurricanes reached 3: 1-3: 1 final of the Eastern Conference in game 5. In the west, the Winnipeg Jets kept their season alive with a 4-0 win against the Dallas Stars in game 5.
