Deputy strokes, killed by the vehicle that was honored in the peace officer memorial service

A representative of a sheriff who was killed by a car after the beginning of this month was honored at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service.

The Vice President JD Vance praised the deputy deputy deputy of Hamilton County Sheriff, Larry Henderson on Thursday when he honored officers who died in 2024.

“We mourn officers like the special of the Hamilton County Special Sheriff Larry Henderson,” he said. “Deputy Henderson was an exemplary civil servant in the southwest of Ohio.”

As previously reported by News Center 7The deputy deputy of Hamilton County Sheriff, Larry Henderson, died on May 2, after Rodney Hinton Jr. had supposedly pushed a vehicle into him, while Henderson worked a traffic detail at the spring opening of the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati.

It happened one day after Hinton's 18-year-old son, Ryan Hinton, was shot by a police officer from Cincinnati.

Vance said the deputy Henderson had dedicated his career to protect life.

“He dedicated the protection of people in Hamilton County, Ohio for 33 years,” he said. “But even after he had recently retired from the troop, the Deputy Henderson continued to rise and served his community.”

Vance concluded his speech with thanks to the law enforcement.

“We love you and we are grateful to you,” he said.

Rodney Hinton was not guilty Tuesday, after he was charged with two crimes, severe murder and crime attacks and a murder crime count.
