“Beloved” high school football coach under 4 killed in fiery crash

Four people died on Wednesday, May 14th, on the Taconic State Parkway.

In a statement, the New York state police confirmed that the accident with two vehicles took place around 4:46 p.m. when a van crossed the median to the streets to the north and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

“Preliminary investigations show that a RAM -Promaster -van operated by Yader A. Reyes (50) from Long Branch, NJ, operated RAM -Promaster -Van to the south when he crossed the median into the northern tracks,” says the release.

“The van collided head -on with a 2024 Honda Accord, which was driven by Robert Violante, 45, from Granite Springs, NY, who was traveling north on the lane.”

Officials added that the collision to fire after the tipping of Van caught. The film material from the crash recorded by ABC7 showed that the van is devouring them in flames.

The three passengers in the van were declared dead at the crime scene.

The authorities identified the victims as “Odenis Balladares Martinez, 20, from Neptune, NJ; Harrison Mauricio Reyes Rivera, 34, from Long Branch, NJ, and Bryan Aguilar Castillo, 45, from Asbury Park, NJ.

Violante, who was the driver of the Honda Accord 2024, died after he was taken to the hospital.

Known as “Coach V” in the Bergenfield Public School District, the school paid tribute to its late employees.

“It is a great grief that we share news about the tragic loss of the member of the BHS faculty Robert Violante,” the school wrote next to a letter from superintendent Christopher M. Tully on Facebook.

“Robert died yesterday in a car accident at his commuting house. The news shaken our community down to the core. He will be in our hearts forever.”

Officials confirmed that the driver of the van, Yader Reyes, stayed in a critical condition in the hospital.

“At this point, the cause of the crash is unknown. The examination has not yet been completed,” she added.

The authorities confirmed on Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. that the road has been reopened since then.
