Timale High Court sentenced 6 in the salary billing scandal

The Timale High Court has convicted six people in connection with the corruption system of the wage and salary statement, which includes ghost names and fraudulent salary payments as part of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The convicts are Stafford Korledey Azudey-Barres (deputy chief account technician, controller and accountant General Department (Cagd, Accra), Tahidu Yakubu (former teacher, Balogu JHS, Yendi), Sammy Suuk (School improvement, Yendi North Circuit). Abdula Abubakar sadic (Community coordinator, Integrated Personal Payroll Database, Yendi) and Osman Issahaku (current headmaster, Balogu M/A JHS, Yendi).

They confronted 22 counts, including corruption, incorrect certification and caused financial losses by the state, which were associated with investigations by the state salary accounting.

According to the office of the special prosecutor (OSP), the convictions followed guilty, which were entered as part of the framework of the OSP OSP OSP negotiation framework, which led to a full reimbursement and reparation of the state.

The convicted persons include school administrators, salary account officials and accountants who make the illegal confirmation and reactivation of salaries facilitate for a teacher who had left his position.

The OSP announced that its actions for illegal payment of over GH ₵ 86,000, which were now all restored, which increased the total amount to GH ₵ 106,319.64.

In a statement, the OSP stated that it pursues several other suspects as part of a broader, ongoing examination.
