Samantha Humphrey from Schenectady, New York, was most recently seen by her parents in the capital region around Thanksgiving 2022.

The 14-year-old was described as a white 4'11-“woman with black hair and hazelnut brown eyes.

It was last seen alive on November 25, 2022.

Body found in the Mohawk River

Her body was found in the Mohawk River months later. The remains were discovered by a fisherman in February 2023.

Her death was ruled as a murder. A reward to find the murderer of Samantha was recently doubled to 20,000 US dollars.

A arrest was made over two years after she was missing.

Ex-friend arrested

This week, the district prosecutor of Schenectady accused Humphrey's ex-boyfriend of the district.

The name of the ex-friend was not announced because of its age. He is now 17.

Prosecutors say that the teenager killed Humphrey because he thought she was pregnant and wanted to keep the baby.

“We believe that Samantha believed that she was pregnant and this friend was the father at some point. He didn't want to do anything with the baby and insisted that they would get rid of the baby,” said Robert Carney, district prosecutor of Schenectady County, during a press conference.
