Video, highlights from Nelson County Dems' 2025 Virginia Lt. Governor, Attorney General Forum

See below for a video of the Demcratische Governor and the Attorney General, which was held by the Nelson County Democrats at the beginning of this week. The participation was both candidates for Attorney General (Shannon Taylor and Jay Jones) and five of the six candidates for Lt. Governor (Alex Bastani, Ghazala Hashmi, Babur Lateef, Victor Salgado, Levar Stoney; Aaron Rouse not present). For earlier videos of forums and events where these candidates spoke, see:

And now there are some highlights from the Nelson County Democrat 'forum – in the order of the publication of the candidate. Oh, and remember that we are only 32 days from the democratic primaries on June 17, and only after the end of the vote. So make sure you let your voice hear!

  • Shannon Taylor: “What we know, we have a current Attorney General named Jason Miyares, who does one of two things – he either leans back and allows these terrible instructions and does not challenge them, not, not
Constitutionality, not legality. Or worse, he takes her and he doubles and he
Organizations and institutions threaten if they do not follow them. The result is
The same – Virginians are injured. So we know that we need to go
In order to have the best democratic candidate who can take it over in November and get him out, we will bring Trump to court, because as a lawyer, there will be a lot that must be done on this first day. But we will bring him to court because we will find out for all these good lawsuits who are going to go, why we could not take advantage of it and push it back. So we will find out which complaints we can join, which complaints we have to initiate ourselves. And how I call the X factor – how else will happen between now and the end of the year? Because we know that we hang out the four boys – Miyares and Youngkin flank Trump and Muschus – we know that they will find more terrible things this year. Our goal is to ensure that only a few Virginiaers are affected if necessary, since we not only connect these lawsuits and do the best to do Virginiaian completely, we will also bring back the good work that Mark Herring has done. “
  • Babur Lateef: “I think I am unique to be your next lieutnant governor because I put things on the table that others have not done. I have won in districts. I have most votes from Lieutenant governor. Also because I see patients every day who are republican patients, they are not English-40 to 50 a day.
  • Victor Salgado: “I check a lot of boxes … in the type of LG candidate that we need over the next 3 1/2 years. If you want someone who can … design and promote this legislation that can pass a judicial exam, you can check this box with me. If you want to advise someone who can initiate our Democratic AG and Abigail Spanberger, you can use the box. Check with me.
  • Ghazala Hashmi: “I have a legislative track record from six years in the General Assembly and would ask you to look at this legislative success story, the work I did. I understand what the work of the governor of the lieutenant. I have been in the Senate Chamber for six years.
The position of the governor lieutenant in Richmond, not in Washington DC – it
happens in our state capital with our general assembly and our state authorities,
Everyone that I have worked very closely in the past six years. But I'm one
Former educator … I felt particularly shattered in 2016 when he chose Donald Trump when he questioned every structure of our belief system what we appreciated, who and what we thought as Americans. And certainly as a Muslim American, I felt as immigrants challenged as he was willing to destroy our basic constitutional democracy. And so I knew that I had to run for an office. I did this in 2019, I left the classroom so that I had been able to record these problems for six years now. “
  • Alex Bastani: “I fight to end the statute of” right to work “. I know that our future governor says that she will not sign the bill. I will fight to ensure that Abigail Spanberger is our next governor. On January 1, I will celebrate her when he was the first governor of the woman to contact the state's governor. Movement;
The most popular organization is the American labor movement – 65% of Americans believe in the American labor movement. That's why I'm here to tell you today. I think I'm the best candidate to help Abigail Spanberger in November because the union movement is supported and that we can bring all the working class back in Virginia who drift to the other party. “
  • Jay Jones: “Nobody in this room has an apology because we have a big job this year – we have to choose Abigail Spanberger as our next governor. We will get the hammer back in the Senate. We will defeat Jason Miyares and we will grow our majority in the Delegated House.
Majority because we are there because we have this really unique opportunity not only to show Virginia, but the country and the rest of the world that we are better than what we saw in these last 100 days. But we have to do it right. We have to make the right decisions in these elections. We must have people who have to win and make sure that we can use these offices as much as possible. Because in the past three years I think that, like me, is sick and tired of being sick and tired. So this is our chance to rise. And so I thank you all for your energy, your passion, your vision, your conviction. Because it sometimes feels like dark and the road is long. But this is our chance to show everyone that Virginia is better than what we have seen that we are running the way and that we can do history in November 2025. “
  • Levar Stoney: “Over the past 111 days we saw every day
Donald Trump showed that he didn't take care of us. Whether it's Donald Trump
Mara a Lago after driving his tariff plan together in a golf car while 401ks crashed. He shows that he doesn't care about us. Or whether it is
When he talks to a reporter and he says that our children will only have fewer dolls around the Christmas tree this winter, he just doesn't take care of us. Now we always knew that Donald Trump would be someone who would fight for those who have most of them or who were born with most. And at the moment I just like to think that we need more guides who are ready to fight for those who are least or those who were born with the least. And I know something about it, because about 44 years ago I was born by a few teenagers – my mother was 16 years old. My father was 18 years old. What I did in the summer of 2020, I led the city of Richmond through pandemic, but also through a social billing. And in the summer of 2020 I was the man who ordered the distance of every damn monument in the former capital of the Confederation. And here is the thing – Donald Trump didn't like it, but who cares; We would do the right thing. “
