New report on the highest priority plans of Warriors in the NBA season

The Golden State Warriors appear after a disappointing series against the Minnesota Timberwolves with many questions and some tough decisions. Mike Dunleavy ended his first year as General Manager of Warriors, added Jimmy Butler and received an indictment in the playoffs, but can it be sustainable?

The role players of the Golden State outside of Jonathan Kuminga did not rise in the absence of their franchise pillar Steph Curry. While a playoff picture of the second round cannot be discouraged, the Warriors and Curry still want to win the championship.

A new report by Shams Charania von ESPN showed that the warriors want to add what feels like every competitor is looking for: size.

“The Warriors will be incredibly aggressive on the market to find help … to continue to implement their big 3 of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler,” said Charania.

He continued: “I was told that their priority is to find a playing wing, a defender or a center that expands this group.”

The goals for the warriors include Nikola Vucevic from the Chicago Bulls (via trade), Nickeil Alexander Walker (unrestricted free agent) or a larger role for her own Jonathan Kuminga.

Kuminga, Pat Spencer, Kevin Knox and Taran Armstrong are all restricted free agents, while Kevon Looney and Gary Payton II are unrestricted freelance agents. There must also be decisions about Gui Santos and Quinten Post that are at club options for the next season.

Finding talents like what the warriors are looking for is a challenge in the NBA. For this reason, the teams remaining in the playoff race have a combination of size, shooting ability and physicality. It will be interesting to see what the Warriors can work together in this low season in order to extend their championship window again.
