No, not the rarely seen first lady, but the statue in its similarity, which observed over its nearby hometown Sevnica, Slovenia.

The life -size bronze statue, 15 minutes outside of Sevnica, disappeared from its place this week. The theft was reported on Tuesday, the police said. But it is not clear when exactly it was taken, said Alenka Drenik, a police spokeswoman, on Friday by phone.

“The police are still evaluating the theft and an investigation is still taking place,” added Ms. Drenik.

The residents of Sevnica have suspected their suspicion. Some in the city with around 5,000 people in East Lovenia say that it could have been an act of vandalism. Others say it was probably melted out of cash. However, none of the people interviewed thought that the disappearance of the statue was political in any way.

“Melania is rarely seen in the spotlight or somewhere else, and even if she does something, it is so bizarre, so I don't want to think that much about her,” said Igor Pavkovic, who lived in Sevnica all his life and remembered that he saw the statue for the first time.

The expressionless sculpture, the arm of which increases in a tight wave, has never caught the heart of the residents of Sevnica. Originally made of wood, it was chopped out of a linden tree and presented in 2019 by an artist who used a chainsaw to create a very, very rough similarity of the First Lady.
