The man gets 20 years in prison because he has put to death in Moorhead toddler

A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday because he had killed a toddler in his care.

The 25-year-old Mason Garza was recognized for 312 days and was guilty in April to make a second degree murder in connection with the death of 3-year-old Easton Deronjic.

The officials were called for a report about a child in March 2024. Deronjic later died in the hospital.

The boy's mother told the police that she left her son in the care of Garza and his girlfriend Shiann Erickson because of “personal problems”. Erickson told the investigators that Garza had attacked her and Deronjic in the past.

An autopsy of the child showed that he had suffered 28 blunt injuries. The medical examiner decided that the boy died on a murder of a torn chair due to an attack.

WDay-TV reports that Erickson was not guilty at the beginning of this week and will go to court later this year.
