Phillie's starter Aaron Nola ends up on a 15-day IL with ankle injury

The Phillies Righty Aaron Nola is on the way to the injured list to complete a previous season full of fights.

The 31-year-old Nola was placed on the 15-day IL with a right sprain of the ankles, the team said on Friday.

The Manager of Phillies, Rob Thomson, said that Nola's violation of the team against the Guardians took place in front of the team's series at the beginning of this month.

Nola's stay in the IL has been his first since 2017, where he gets back with a tense lower back for a month.

“We thought he could do it, he thought he could do it,” Thomson told reporters on Friday. “It gets better, but it doesn't get out. So before it turns into an elbow or a quad or a shoulder, it is best to switch it off.”

“It's more of a persistent thing,” added Thomson. “We want to make sure we take care of him now.”

Thomson also said he didn't think Nola will be away from the team for more than the 15 planned 15 days.

Before his injury, Nola had a miserable start this year and rose to a 1-7 record with a career of 6.16 ERA through nine starts in 2025.

Nola's numbers this year are a strong contrast to the last season, where it ended with a respectable 14-8 record and a 3.57 ERA with 33 starts with a league.

After Nola is geared towards the near future, the Phillies Mick Abel calls Triple-A, where he puts his first against the pirates on Sunday.

Abel was previously the number 1 view of number 1 in 2022 and currently has an ERA of 2.53 ERA through eight starts with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.

However, the 23-year-old will not be for the majors for so long, since the veteran start jug Taijuan Walker is expected to return to the Phillies next week.
