Sophie Cunningham with ankle injury before Fever's start of the season against Chicago

Cunningham suffered the fever against the Atlanta Dream during the fever's last pre -season game on May 10th. In the third quarter, Cunningham rolled her ankle on the foot of Atlanta, Rhyne Howard's foot as she fought for a rebound. She left the game and did not return.

Fever trainer Stephanie White did not give any details about Cunningham when she was asked about her non -exercise at the beginning of this week. While he initially said the team would take things every day, White emphasized how fever focused on the long -term health of Cunningham and did not hurt himself to have prepared them for Chicago.

After Cunningham took part in the training in the training on Friday in training and insisted that she can play, White joked that her player was “fraudulent”.

“I mean, they take three days of training and then come and try to get the money on half a shot,” said White. “I think this is a little fraudulent. I think that she has made great progress, you know, I think the greatest is perspective, isn't it? We do not want to do anything that will reset what will hinder her progress.

“I think we have six games in the first 14 days. So we will be careful. The last 48 hours were really good. The training staff will look at them in the morning, and then we will make a decision from there.”

When a white was asked about the challenges of the situation: “Sometimes you have to save players in front of themselves.”

“Help you understand the overall picture. Cunningham landed in Indiana from Phoenix after a four-team trade between fever, Mercury, Dallas Wings and Connecticut Sun in January.

Phoenix designed Cunningham with the 13th election in 2019 from Missouri. She stayed in the valley for five years and achieved an average of 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 2024.

Cunningham scored in the pre-season games in Indiana 21, 6 and 5 points because the fever in tune-up games ran 3-0.
