The 16-year-old dies, 2 more injured in the event of an accident near Brighton

Green Oak Twp., Mi-a 16-year-old was killed and two more were injured in a car accident on Tuesday evening near Brighton.

According to a release of the municipality's police department, the police were called to a car accident around 10:36 p.m. in the Whitmore Lake Road near M-36 in Green Oak Township south of Brighton.

When the crews arrived, they found that a 16-year-old behind passenger had been ejected from the vehicle that was overwhelmed. They were declared dead on site.

A 16-year-old passenger and the 18-year-old driver were injured and taken to the hospital, the police said.

The police believe that alcohol or drugs could have been a factor in the crash and added that the driver refused to submit to a preliminary breath test. The blood underground results achieved by a search order are pending, the police said.

The identities of the participants are held back until the family is notified, the police said. The incident remains actively examined.
