St. Tammany Deputy arrested, accuses the sexual battery | Crime/police

A deputy of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office was arrested and released after being accused of sexual harassment at the workplace this week.

Joshua Schirro, 20, a deputy of the 1st district, was booked for sexual battery and obscene, the department said on Friday evening.

The incident occurred on Monday and was examined by the public integrity office as a complaint for sexual harassment in the workplace.

The unity of the main crimes was then asked to examine possible criminal charges.

“After we were made aware of this incident, we began to investigate both politics and criminal violations,” said Sheriff Randy Smith in an explanation. “I stick to our employees at the highest behavioral standards and if we receive a report that one of our MPs acted inappropriately, we thoroughly examine to investigate violations of politics and/or law.”
