'Great Style Fit': PFF Draft Analyst emphasizes Kaleb Johnson as his favorite selection of Steelers

The love for the selection of Pittsburgh Steelers from Iowa, which Kaleb Johnson runs back to 83th place in the third round of the NFL design from 2025, continues.

This time the Pro Football Focus -Draft -analyst Trevor Sikkema arrives with praise. In a piece for PFF.com Wednesday morning, Sikkema Johnson called his favorite selection of the Steelers throughout the draft.

“I was lower on Johnson on my big board than other analysts, but to bring him to Pick No. 83 was a good value,” writes Sikkema. “It is also a great style when Johnson 2024 earned an 82.6 PFF rushing note behind Zone Blocking -Schemata and headed the zone in 58.32% of the time in 2024 under the offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.”

The Fit is an excellent for Johnson, who has emerged in his one-season as a starter in Iowa in a zone rushing attack. The offensive coordinator of Steelers, Arthur Smith, loves to run the ball in his zone scheme, and Najee Harris's fit in this zone scheme was not that big in the 2024 season.

Now Johnson enters the program as a great attitude and a great value for the Steelers in the design.

It is another large, physical response. At the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Johnson measure at 6010, 224 pounds and ran a 4.57 40-yard shot, solid numbers for its size and weight.

Johnson was excellent for the Hawkeyes in 2024 and hurried to 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns on 240 runs and also led the big lead with a broad lead. He also caught 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns and showed that he can do anything.

He is 22 years old in August and only had a difficult workload for a year, so there are some concerns. But outside of this he fits the shape for the Steelers and feels like a perfect fit that Smith followed him last Friday evening during a session with the media after the selection.

These 58.32% zone rushing attempts by the Steelers will certainly increase in 2025, especially with Johnson profiling as a lead for black and gold. It fits perfectly on paper and should fit in the field, where Johnson should quickly become a fan favorite due to his playing style.

In fact, a former NFL, who runs back in Chase Edmonds on Tuesday during a performance on the Good Morning Football in the NFL Network, compared to Johnson to the former NFL all-Pro deficit by Arian Foster that they run in the same way. Also check the size and speed.

If Johnson can be a fraction at all, which was as good as Foster during his flowering with the Houston Texans, where he headed the NFL in rushing and touchdowns and was twice a all-pro-all-all-pro-pro lead, the Steelers will be in real business with their selection of the third round.
