Image Perfect: Sophia Parlin's love for video production puts your world in sight News, sports, jobs

Video production and political science are two interests of Sophia Parlin, Junior at the Marietta High School and in the Washington County Career Center, hopes to make a career.

It is enrolled at the Career Center for the Graphic Design program and video production.

As the daughter of Steve and Melissa Parlin, she also has a strong interest in music and has been playing the violin since fourth grade.

“The violin is my main instrument,” said Parlin. “We have several instruments around the house.”

Parlin said she was taught at home for several years.

“I was at home most of my life, except for two years at the Veritas Classical Academy,” she said. “My mother taught in Veritas and we had to go there for two years, after which we went back to home school.”

She started going to the public school in 2024.

“This is my first year in a public school,” she said.

Parlin said the violin was necessary in fourth grade in Veritas, but after that she continued.

“I've been paying for seven years now,” she said.

Parlin said she took private lessons in violin from David Puls in Belpre.

“We have a private lesson on Wednesday and on Thursday he brings his students together and we play together,” she said.

Parlin said she was not involved in the music programs of the Marietta High School.

“However, I am at the Williamstown Strings at the Williamstown High School,” she said, “I was invited to do this in the ninth grade.”

As for the music style, Parlin said that her favorites are jazz and folk music. She said her favorite jazz composer was Django Reinhardt and her favorite composer Johannes Brahms.

Parlin's interest in film led her to the program program for graphic design and video production in the Career Center.

“I was very interested in film at the time and I am still, but it is not my main interest. I don't want to follow him for a career,” she said. “Last year I was interested in watching it as a career. I wanted to be in video production at the Career Center.”

Parlin said her favorite part of a video production was pre -production.

“I like the structure of designing the film,” she said. “I was interested in the cinematography using color theory and lighting. I am very happy, I am very happy, I am very happy.”

As the end of the year, Parlin is working on a short film. She said the film is about creating a problem for selling a solution.

Last year Parlin said her interest had shifted to another field.

“Actually, I am interested in political science,” she said. “It is a completely different field. It was a kind of throw between the two last year.

“I was interested in what was going politically and I was still very interested in film,” she said. “I'm not sure what I want to do after graduation.”

After the high school, Parlin said that she could consider political science as a major.

Parlin said she was interested in arts. Together with their four siblings, they have put together a few productions such as Magic shows.

“I was always very, very interested in putting events together,” she said.

Parlin is interested in merging your interest in video production with political science.

“I was invited to be voluntary with the Republican Committee in Marietta in the course of the summer,” she said, “so I can help with you and combine political science with the aspects of video production.”

Parlin said she didn't think about where she wanted to go to college.

“There are a few options,” she said. “I would really like to go to a Catholic university. Of course, scholarships will be a large part of it.”

Parlin recorded bird observation.

“I have a lot of photos of me with a camera -out bird watching,” she said. “I've been a big bird in the past three years.”

She added that her favorite place for Birdwatching is on site at Wetland's Williamstown. “My favorite bird place I traveled to was Sunset Beach, NC,” she added.
