Should Labaron Philon return to Alabama or stay in the NBA design? Just a minute

Welcome to Bamacentrals “Just A Minute”, a video series with Bamacentral's Alabama Beat Writers. The authors will group each other several times a week to see a topic in relation to the Crimson Tide or the landscape of College Sports.

Watch the video above, while the author of Bamacentral Stab, Hunter de Siver, discussed the advantages and disadvantages of Alabama Basketball -outstanding Labaron Philons NBA draft 2025.

Labaron Philon, Alabama's basketball guard, announced on April 14 that he would explain after an impressive first semester campaign for the NBA draft of 2025. Born in the mobile Alabama, he finished his first college basketball year on average of 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and a purple tide best 1,3 steals per game.

During his announcement, Philon said that he was “everything in” on the process to reach the next level. On Monday evening, Philon explained in “The Schuz Show” that he still focuses 100 percent on the draft “things could change”.

Philon, who has time to either stay in the design process or withdraw until May 28th, is listed in many bills, but most of them selected him in the second round. The chances are good that he will be one of the 60 players who were selected in the annual event, but it is the risk of not hearing his name due to his projections.

However, if it is selected, the 19-year-old has more time to develop under a professional organization and to secure a place in an NBA squad. Philon, who is known for its competitiveness, could thrive immediately if he takes over some of the outstanding league in summer and pre -season. A year in the association after a first semester college campaign often goes far.

Nevertheless, a return to Alabama could create a double -edged sword. On the one hand, he increases his NBA draft from 2026 by showing enormous improvements, and on the other hand, he lowers his shares due to a variety of factors, including a decrease in some status categories or even a possible injury. Philon shone for a large part of last season, but a ankle injury he played led to a bad five-game route.

Another thing that you should consider is Alabama's current squad, which provides two places, including the transfer of the former Tarleton striker Keitenn Bristow on Wednesday morning. The Crimson Tide has five guards in Miami Transfer Jalil Bethea, the arriving newcomer Davion Hannah, Aden Holloway, who will return as a junior, and 2024-25 Medical Redshirts Latrell Wrightsell Jr. and Houston Mallet.

None of these players are true point guards, and while Philon is not, he would be closest to him because he often included the ball for Alabama last season and has experience with the offensive of the tide. This role could also influence Philon's draft if it should return.

So what do you think? Should Labaron Philon return to Alabama for his second year, or would it be best for him to stay in the NBA design of 2025?
