MSP Trooper shot, suspicious, who was killed in the shooting after the traffic stop

A soldier of the state police in Michigan was shot in the shoulder on Friday evening during a traffic stop before he returned fire and killed the suspect.

Officials said the soldier was in a stable state on Friday evening.

The authorities said that the soldier ran a vehicle on the M-10 (Autobahn Lodge) near the Wyoming Avenue in Detroit around 7:40 p.m. after observing a traffic violation.

At some point during the stop, the soldier and driver got involved in a physical struggle, said MSP director Col. James F. Grady II when they fought, the suspect, who was later identified as a 41-year-old Highland Park man, produced a firearm and fired several shots on the officer, hit three times.

Two balls met the soldiers in a protective vest, said Grady, the other hit his shoulder. The soldier returned the fire, beat and killed the suspect.

The Detroit police responded and transported the injured soldier to the Sinai Grace Hospital.

“In view of the circumstances, he was doing well in view of the circumstances,” said Grady during a news information outside the hospital at 10:15 p.m. that he did not identify the soldiers by name, but said that he was a little more than a year at MSP.

Grady said a pistol was recovered at the scene and the investigators worked to determine what led to the fact that the traffic stop became violent.

The incident will continue to be examined by the Detroit Police Department Modicide Task Force, which includes both DPD and MSP officials.
