Which Trump tariffs are active, which ones are and what comes next? | Trump -Zölle

In the past few months, Donald Trump has introduced a confusing and developing tariffs against certain countries and industries that the President regarded for the US industry as threats.

Many of his toughest tariffs were held and some exceptions were made, but there are still a handful of tariffs. Trump continues to threaten more of them, although the future of the President's trade war is still unclear.

So far we know the following about the status of the US tariffs for imported goods.


Active

Most of the tariffs that are currently present are broken down what they were when Trump suggested them for the first time. For example, Trump had threatened to place 25% tariffs on all goods from Canada and Mexico. He finally made an exception for goods that were covered under the US Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) signed in 2018, which covers the majority of imports from both countries.

  • 25% for cars and auto parts (with some exceptions)

  • 30% Tariff in Chinese Imports (with some exceptions)
    Entered force on May 13th

  • 25% tariffs for goods from Canada and Mexico, not covered in the USMCA

Trump has its highest tariffs, including 145% tariffs for Chinese imports and a number of so -called “mutual tariffs”, which the president intend to implement against more than 50 countries. The US stock markets jumped after Trump had stopped these tariffs.

Exceptions

The White House has made important exceptions for tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China, covering the goods that are significantly imported from these countries.

  • Goods from Canada and Mexico, which are treated in the USMCA, including auto parts
    Except on April 2

  • Customs tariffs on smartphones, computers and other electronics imported from China
    Except on April 12th


Hovered

Trump continues to threaten more tariffs in certain industries, although it is unclear whether the President will implement Zölle in these industries.
