Judge in Kohberg case issues the order

Boise, ID – Judge Steven Hippler has instructed law enforcement and public prosecutor's personnel at Bryan Kohberger's assembly to receive all communication and records after a recently carried out national television broadcast had revealed confidential information in connection with the investigations.

The order, which was issued on May 15, was initiated by the broadcast of A Dateline NBC Episode with the title “The terrible night on the King Road” On May 9, the court believes that the episode may have contained information that was not published publicly and that someone who has been associated with the case violated an existing court order in which the transfer of case details was complied with.

In the order, the judge expressed concern that non -authorized disclosures disrupt the legal process, delay the selection of the jury and increase the costs of Latah County by expanding the legal procedure or the obligation of the jurors.

The directive of the court applies to people – past or present – who have worked in any function with law enforcement or public prosecutor's authorities that are associated with the examination. It is prohibited from deleting or changing files, including e -mails, text messages, call protocols, metadata and communication via all messaging platforms, regardless of whether these messages were made on personal or official devices.

This includes all information or an exchange of information with external parties such as journalists or members of the public, the Kohberger, the examination or the murders involved in the case concern. The court also indicated that automatic extinguishing positions on devices and apps have to be deactivated in order to avoid random loss of evidence.

Within seven days, the state must submit a sealed list of all people who had access to important evidence, including surveillance material, cell phone recordings, online activities and other digital content connected to Kohberger. The public prosecutor must also distribute the order command to these people and confirm that this is the case.

In addition, the court has instructed the state to develop and present a plan in which it will be demonstrated how it will prevent future leaks. This plan must also describe what has already been done – or will – to determine whether previous court orders were violated and if so, who was responsible.

The non -compliance with the court's order can lead to contempt or other legal punishments.

Kohberger is accused of the murders of four students from the University of Idaho in a rental house outside the campus in Moscow. The case has received widespread attention in the media, and the concerns regarding the maintenance of a fair procedure have not yet been concluded, since he will approach a potential negotiation date later this year.
