The community mourns Clinton Man, who were killed when shooting the parking lot

Anthony Traevon Dawson

Clinton, Md. -The family of 30-year-old Anthony Traevon Dawson asks for the help of the public after being shot on Monday evening before a Clinton shopping center in what the police called “pointless action”.

At 9:40 p.m. on May 12, the officials responded to the 9800 block of the Piscataway Road and found Dawson in a parking space with a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the crime scene.

Dawson – many known as Anthony, Traevon or “Mook” – was a son, brother, father and friend. Relatives have launched a Gofundme campaign to cover the funeral costs and to collect more than $ 12,000 in over 180 donations from a target of $ 16,000.

“His sudden and heartbreaking death destroyed our family and did not prepare at the costs of a reasonable funeral,” wrote relatives. “Every contribution, regardless of the crowd, brings us closer to his memory with the dignity and love that he has given all around him.”

Detectives of the murder unit at the police authority of Prince George's County continue to examine the killing. No suspect was identified and a motif remains unclear. A reward of up to 25,000 US dollars is offered for information that leads to arrest and indictment. Tips can be shared with detectives under 301-516-2512.

The visit will take place on Thursday, May 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton.
