Tornados kill 16 in Kentucky and Missouri

Tornados who whip on Friday through Missouri and Kentucky killed at least 16 people and injured dozens of others, said the local authorities.

At least nine people were killed late Friday after a Tornado Laurel County, Ky, met about 150 miles southeast of Louisville, said the district of the district's sheriff had suffered serious injuries. Emergency and rescue workers searched for survivors in the damaged area, the office said.

The tornados were unleashed by a large storm over the middle west and the middle Atlantic, the power lines and whip of rubble through streets. In Missouri there was serious damage where Tornados killed at least seven people, five of them in St. Louis, and more injured dozens.

“Our city mourns this evening. The loss of life and the destruction are really, really terrible,” said Cara Spencer, the mayor of St. Louis, at a press conference on Friday evening.

Mobile towers were removed and the traffic lights were down in St. Louis, said the city authorities. An outcome lock overnight has been set up and the officials asked the residents to stay away from damaged areas when the crews swept through districts to look for people who are caught in their houses. Accommodation was also open to people in need.

According to the district of the Sheriff, a tornado also killed two people in Scott County in the southeast of Missouri.

The national weather service said at the beginning of the day in Northern Texas and in the Southern Plains Plains in the Southern Plains.
