Two Porsche score points in Tokyo Wet Race

Day Heuer Porsche Formula E Team Driver António Félix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein 7TH and 13TH At the rainy ABB FIA Formula E race on Saturday.

Started in 11TH (Da Costa) and 17TH (Wehrlein), both drivers made positions together under challenging circumstances. Pit boost, attack mode, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Safety Car and an interruption of the red flag meant a lot to handle for the Porsche works team. In the past, heavy rain had led to the cancellation of the qualification, with the power grid decided by the results of free practice 2.

The second of the highly efficient Porsche cars across the board was that of Cupra Kiros Dan Tidtum in 5TH Position. With the Porsche 99x Electric WCG3, the customer team has achieved its best result so far. Tidtum achieved his second best result in a Formula -e race. The points contribute to one of the two best placed Porsche finishers at the manufacturers.

Comments on the Tokyo E-Prix

Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E: »It was hard and challenging with the wet conditions here in Tokyo all day, and so wet that qualifying was canceled. The start grille was taken from the result of FP2, in which the 350 kW rounds of Pascal were affected by red and yellow flags. We had to adjust our racing strategy. António from 11 wonTH up to 7TH In the race that was good progress, and Pascal also rose from 17TH up to 13TH. We would have got more in qualified or dry conditions. It would have helped us more if the red flag had taken place after the window of the box boost window opened. Very good work from Dan Tidtum also collects points for P5 for the manufacturer's championship. Now we have to concentrate on hopefully being competitive tomorrow. “

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#1): “P17 was not an easy position to make progress. The view was bad, but we could go forward. As soon as we were in clear air, we were quick, but the whole day was a bit unhappy. I look forward to tomorrow when it is dry and a normal day. Let's see what we can do. “

António Félix da Costa, Porsche works driver (#13): “It feels like we were only” wrong time, wrong place “. Today we collected points. I had a bad round one and went backwards, but we had a good pace in the wet and were able to go forward. P7 was what we could do, but maybe a P6 was on the cards. It feels like we are doing well with adversity and difficult days. It was a restriction of damage, but we have another race tomorrow. The car was quick here and I look forward to achieving a good comeback tomorrow. “
