By Oscar Okhifo

Prof. Sandra Duru, also known as Prof. Mgbeke, a bribes and defamation scandal in which the activist based in Great Britain is involved, triggered outrage among the Nigerians concerned. The coalition of Nigerian youth described the situation as a growing national embarrassment.

This week, the controversy, after a Mr. Obinna Akudike, an indigenous of the IMO state, publicly claimed that Sandra Duru had offered him a bribery fee of 2.5 million N to orchestrate a compression campaign against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uuduaghan.

According to Akudike, who said that he had known Duru for 15 years, the bribery offered during Easter as part of a conspiracy to blackmail the Senator of the Kogi Center.

His confession is only a few days after another person, the Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya, made similar claims. Ogbonnaya accused Duru of coordinating a deliberate campaign in order to cloud the image of Senator Natasha using Doctor audio recordings and false allegations of sexual harassment.

In a declaration made on Thursday and the journalist made available, the coalition of the Nigerian young people expressed serious concern about the diverse allegations and insisted that they point to a coordinated attempt to silence Senator Natasha.

“This is no longer just shameful, it has become a national shame.”

The group explained in the explanation signed by its national president, Abdul Mohammed Nasir; National Secretary Victoria Adeemola; and National Public Relations Officer, Ibeh Columbus Amaechi.

“It is regrettable that Senator Natasha explained her allegations against the sexual harassment against the Senator Godswill Akpabio, we have experienced a flood of desperate and shameful actions that aim to silence them,” said the coalition.

“Two people have now reported to admit that they were paid by Sandra Duru to smear the name of the Senator.”

The group claimed that Sandra Duru could not act alone, which indicates that powerful people could support their efforts to discredit the senator. “The question we ask is who is behind this national shame? Who benefits from the silence of Senator Natasha?” They asked.

The coalition continued to ask the law enforcement authorities to act quickly by localizing and pursuing Duru for their alleged role in the extortion program.

“This culture of the shooters must stop. Sandra Duru has to face the full anger of the law,” says the explanation.

They also urged those who supposedly use them as an instrument of political persecution to reverse the course. “It is not too late to do the right thing. Senator Natasha deserves justice, and all of her privileges should be restored,” said the group and concluded with a strong memory: “Karma is real. No matter how long it takes.
