49ers RB Christian McCaffrey will storm back from an injury

This seems terribly optimistic.

Christian McCaffrey, who achieved an average of 4.0 yards per Carry last season during the dealing with bilateral Achilles tendonitis and a torn PCL, will storm from the injury this year.

“'CMC' was one of two things with the Carolina Panthers to open his career: all-pro-caliber or injured,” writes CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin. The trend finally returned in San Francisco in 2024 when the multi -purpose star tracked an offensive player of the year by missing 13 games with Achilles tendinitis.

“It is hardly a safe bet over 30 years to maintain a strong workload, and his top backup, Jordan Mason, is no longer in the city to get relief. Nevertheless, the rest of the 49 should be healthy to make it back into a leading role for Kyle Shanahan.”

Benjamin actually determines the argument why McCafrey should not storm from an injury. He is old for a return. He had injury problems in the past. Achilles tendonitis not only disappears forever. It is an excessive injury that can occur at any time.

And McCaffrey did not hurt back from his Achilles tendonitis last season. He was questionable for week 1 – the 49 thought that he could play in this game. Instead, he waited until week 10 to make his debut. And he was still only 4.0 meters per carry on average. And he only took four games before injuring anything else.

For comparison, Dre Greenlaw actually broke his Achilles tendon, then he hurried back to the field before he was ready and still played better than McCaffrey, who took the time to come back.

Adjust your McCafrey expectations accordingly.
