Severe storms stir through the middle west and kill at least 21

Sturm systems that sweep over parts of the middle west and south have left at least 21 deaths, including nine people who were killed after a devastating tornado in the southeast of Kentucky.

Around 14 people were killed by storms in Kentucky, and according to governor Andy Beshear, the number of fatalities will probably increase. Previously, the local authorities in Laurel County killed nine people after a tornado in the southeast of Kentucky had landed, which crumbled together and even rotated on the I-75 over a car.

Chris Cromer, Laurel County's resident, said he had the first of two tornado warnings around 11:30 p.m. about half an hour before the tornado on his phone. He and his wife grabbed their dog, jumped into their car and went to the house of a relative and climbed into a crawl space.

“We could hear and feel the vibration of the tornado,” said Cromer, 46.

The rescuers were “in search of possible survivors all night”, and the search continued until morning, Sheriff's office spokesman Gilbert Acciardo. Emergency shelter was set up at a local high school and donations of food and other necessities came.

The National Weather Service had not yet confirmed that a tornado had occurred, but the meteorologist Philomon Geertson said that this was likely. It tore across the largely rural area and stretched to London Corbin Airport shortly before midnight.

“Tonight has changed here forever. This is a time when we come together and we pray for this community,” London Mayor Randall Weddle told WKYT-TV. “I never personally saw what I saw here tonight.”

It is the latest storm that causes deaths in Kentucky and widespread damage. Two months ago, at least 24 people died in a round of storms, the streams and water covered with water. Hundreds had to be saved, and most of the deaths were caused by vehicles that put in floods.

A storm at the end of 2021 produced Tornados, in which 81 people and parts of the cities in the west were killed by Kentucky. The following summer, historical flood parts flooded parts of Ostkentucky and leave dozens more dead.
