The residents of Baltimore express a concern of youth crime before the summer months

Baltimore residents claim that groups of teenagers commit various crimes in their community and that the problem will get worse in the coming summer if nothing is done to combat them.

At a Saturday edition of FOX45 Morning News, Tom Rodgers spoke to the retired police sergeant Betsy Smith, a spokesman for the National Police Association, about the next steps for the residents. Smith says it begins with the current process of arrest and approval.

“What happens is that these children are arrested for crimes,” said Smith. “You get a ankle [monitor] And they are on the street again. “

Smith refers to the current laws because the managers have to use resources in order to clear up the concerns of the residents.

“There are laws, there are mechanisms to punish youthful criminals and also contain them until they go to court,” said Smith. “I think it's time for us to use the advantages of the laws in Maryland.”
