Massive Colapinto-Crash Red Flags F1 Imola GP Qualifying

The qualifying for the Imola Grand Prix of Formula 1 was flapped a second time for a crash by alpine driver Franco Colapinto red.

At his last flyer at the end of Q1 Colapinto, who celebrates his debut from 2025 this weekend with Alpine, he dived his bikes at the start of Tamburello on the grass, the first corner sequence in Imola.

This error made the Argentiner turn into the gravel trap before hit the barriers on the head at a reduced speed.

Colapinto signaled that he was okay for his team before leaving. It was the second heavy blow in the first quarter after a violent accident for Red Bulls Yuki Tsunoda in the next corner sequence, The Villeneuve Chicane.

Tsunoda went backwards into the tire barriers and was sent to a barrel roll, but landed the right side up and got out unharmed.

Colapinto had come to the second quarter in the second quarter in the second quarter, but will probably receive a network penalty because it was released into the Pitlane early on the first red flag. The Mercedes duo Russell and Antonelli cost a similar incident in Bahrain.

As a result of Colapinto's accident, Liam Lawson was not able to complete the last flyer and throw it on the 16th. Racing Bulls' man was accompanied on the edge of Saubers Nico Hulkenberg and Haas Duo Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman.

Bearman had the feeling that he completed his last round before the red flag came out, but after the checks through the racing control, his laptime – which is easily sufficient for the second quarter – was not set again.

The 21-year-old Argentinian will replace Jack Doohan in Alpine from the weekend and, after a nine-race stint, with Williams in 2024 will be Enstone squad.
