The lake in Redcar has been empty for months

An examination of a leak on a boat lake failed after an attempt to fill it up again.

The lake in Newcomen Terrace in Coatham, Redcar, was filled with water last month after repairs.

But members of the Redcar Model Boat Club said he was empty the next day.

Redcar and Cleveland Council said that a new investigation began last week and future repairs would be confirmed as soon as it has been completed.

The approximately 100 -year -old lake has been through low water levels for more than three years.

The structure was emptied and cleaned last September and repairs were carried out.

Members of the Model Boat Club had hoped to sail the ships on the Ve day in the lake

There was hopes that it could be his earlier shine again in spring, with a test filled up at the beginning of April.

The local authority said she tried to fill it with a temporary above -ground pump arrangement.

“Unfortunately, the Bootsee kept the water for a short time to require further investigations into the possible cause of the leak,” said a spokesman.

The Redcar Boating Club, who had hoped to sail some of his boats on the Ve day in the lake, said that he had to put his ships back in her boxes.

The club previously said that it had fought to attract new members with regard to problems with the lake and instead drove remote -controlled cars.

Last week, an examination started with work, including a complete topographical overview of the boat lake, the use of soil penetrating radar and drilling 30 cores over the base and the walls.

“As soon as this work is complete, we will be able to determine the next steps and time scale for the necessary repairs,” said the council's spokesman.

A solution is also worked for the underground pump of the lake.

It fills the structure with sea water, but has come at the end of his life and regularly flooded, the spokesman added.
