With the loss, the Celtics continued a long NBA playoff series. For the seventh year in a row, the league will not have a repeat master.

This is also another year in which the defending champions did not get out of the second round. The last time it happened in 2019.

After the loss, the Celtics changing room was filled with a feeling of emptiness. The entire group had the feeling that they could keep the season alive, but New York released much more effort in game 6.

“We don't want our season to end,” said Payton Pritchard. “I think it's nothing worse than walking home and sitting at home and not playing basketball now. So we will do everything we can to keep it on life.”

Before Boston lost the Star Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles, the Knicks looked like the better team. New York was able to take advantage of the mistakes that Boston made in the series, and they finally did enough to finally get the Celtics away.

Many expect big changes due to CBA restrictions in the Celtics in this low season. Star Jaylen Brown did not want to discuss this after the game and said that the team would think the next steps in a row.

“Nothing to speak at the moment,” said Brown. “But somehow we will sit back and process and see what the next steps are.”

Boston had the feeling that they were good enough to repeat themselves as a NBA champions, but they completed this goal. This low season will be decisive in relation to the franchise trajectory, and it seems that no players are moved in the NBA anymore.
