Trump says he will call Putin on Monday to discuss the Ukraine war

Donald Trump says that on Monday he will talk to the Russian leader Vladimir Putin about the end of the war in Ukraine and say that the call at 10:00 a.m. Edt (2:00 p.m. GMT) is about “stopping the bloodbath”.

In a post about the social of truth, the US President said that he would then speak to the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of some NATO countries.

Russia and Ukraine were able to use their first talks in three years in Istanbul in Istanbul in Istanbul in Istanbul, although a prisoner was agreed.

The US President had offered to take part in the talks in Turkey if Putin went, but his Russian counterpart did not accept the offer.

Trump's comments come after proposing on Thursday that the progress in the end of the war would only happen if he and Putin had personal conversations.

“Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should never have happened will end,” wrote Trump on Saturday.

The NATO leaders asked Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire.

After the talks in Istanbul, Ukraine repeated its call to a complete and unconditional ceasefire.

The head of the Russian delegation, Putin Aide Vladimir Medinsky, said that the Russian delegation was satisfied with the talks and willing to continue contact.

Hours later, a Russian drone in the Sumy region met a passenger bus and killed nine people – which caused Zelensky to demand stiffer sanctions against Moscow.

He said the attack on the bus was “a deliberate murder of the civilian population”. Russia did not comment, but the state media reported that the forces in the province of Sumy had met a “military day area”.

Russia started a complete invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
