Bistro Baffi closes a lack of support in Normandy Park after the owner quotes crime

Bistro Baffi, an Italian restaurant in Normandy Park since 2021, made its doors permanently this week, whereby the owner led a combination of burglaries, financial difficulties and a lack of state support as a final blow.

The last business day of the restaurant was Friday, May 16, 2025.

In a number of social media posts, owners Nirav Sheth cited increasing crime, insurance difficulties and lack of support from the government as the reasons for closure. The decision has been followed in the past two years, in addition to financial battles that have existed after the pandemic.

“We survived covid, government disorders and economic uncertainty, only to be reversed through rising crimes and a complete failure of leadership to protect small companies such as Mine,” wrote the owner in a contribution to X (formerly Twitter).

“Washington State offers endless programs, grants and” support “systems for small business owners on paper,” said Sheth. “But if you are the one who picks up broken glass at 2 a.m. or submits another police report that is not going anywhere, you will see how little of this support in real life actually exists.”

The restaurant in the Normandy Park ToWne Center has been located since moving from its original location in Burien in 2021 for its intimate ambience, cocktails and Italian dishes. In a separate contribution on Facebook, the business for the community, which she supported over the years, shared gratefully.

“We would like to express our deepest thanks to our community for the estimated memories that we created together – decisive nights full of laughter, delightful drinks and delicious meals that really brought bistro Baffi to life.”

A new restaurant is expected to take over the place, although no further details have been announced.

“I am angry, I am broken with a broken heart and I'm sorry to watch the co -entrepreneurs fall through the cracks while our leaders knock on their backs to make progress that does not exist,” wrote Sheth.

Sheth ran for the US House of Representatives in 2024 after this series of burglaries was frustrated by increasing crimes and what he described as a lack of leadership and accountability. However, he ran as a Republican for Washington's 10th congress district, but did not follow the August area code, where he was behind the reigning Democrat Marilyn Strickland (who won the election) and the Republican Don Hewett, the Republican of Republicans.

He also has a Meeke business in the Moines.

Here you will find the full text from the message that Sheth posted on Facebook on May 15, 2025:

“With a heavy heart that finally concludes bistro Baffi, our last day of regular service for May 16 on May 16 will take place.

“We would like to express our deepest thanks to our community for the esteemed memories that we have created together – decisive nights full of laughter, delightful drinks and delicious meals that really brought bistro Baffi to life.

“In honor of our trip, we will offer a 20% discount on all cocktails and wines tomorrow. This Saturday we will also hold a special sale with discounts for our remaining wines.

“If you want to buy one of our exquisite wines before we close, please do not hesitate to contact us bistrobaffi@gmail.com. Thank you for being an integral part of our history. “
