Joliet Police Sergeant killed in off-duty crash near Beecher, Illinois,

A police gender of Joliet, Illinois, was killed in a car accident near South South Suburban Beecher near Suburban Beecher in South Suburban.

The Joliet police confirmed SGT. The 47 -year -old Hollis Weller died on Friday in the southeast of Will County in an accident.

According to Illinois State Police, a semi-tracker truck, a pickup truck and a car collided at the Illinois Route 1 near Eagle Lake Road in the municipality of Washington near Beecher.

Weller was killed in the crash. Another person was injured and taken to the hospital. It was not immediately clear in which vehicle was Weller in. The road was closed until around 6:30 p.m. after the crash.

Weller was a 20-year-old veteran of the Joliet Police Department and since July 2020 Sergeant.

“SGT. Weller was a decorated officer whose commitment to service was recognized with numerous prices, including the heroism award in 2015. He was the leader, mentor and friend for many,” said Joliet Police in a statement.

Weller is survived by his wife and three children.
