Jets' Mark Scheifele unsafe for game 6 after the father's death

Mark Scheifele's father died unexpectedly on Friday evening and left the availability of the star of the Winnipeg Jets for game 6 of the Western Conference series on Saturday against the hosts of Dallas Stars.

The General Manager of Jets, Kevin Cheveldayoff, provided the news to reporters before the team's morning skate, on which Brad Scheifele died.

Winnipeg head coach Scott Arniel returned to the team of the team by Cheveldayoff to speak to Mark Scheifele. Cheveldayoff said it was too early to say whether the 32-year-old striker would play in the team's decisive game on Saturday evening.

“As an organization, we do everything we can to support him and give his family our most sincerely condolences. And obviously we ask that everyone respects their and their privacy at that time,” said Cheveldayoff.

Cheveldayoff said Arniel would update the media at 5:30 p.m.

Scheifele collected a goal and a template on Thursday when Winnipeg broke through the removal by scoring a 4-0 win over Dallas. However, the stars have a 3-2 lead in the best-of-Seven series.

Scheifele has 10 points (four goals, six templates) during the playoffs in 10 games.

He recorded career-high sums in assists (48) and points (87) and this season had an NHL-Best-11 goals in all 82 games that played in all 82 games.
