The jury recommends death in mass murder in central florida

A jury recommended death in a mass murder in central florida, the fatalest mass murder in the history of Volusia County.

After a week and a half, the hearing in Volusia County condemned for the death penalty of Troy Victorino and Jerone Hunter for the deadliest mass murder in the history of the district of Volusia.

Victorino and Hunter, now 48 and 38, were convicted in 2006 and originally sentenced to death

While the convictions of Victorino and Hunter stood, their death sentences were lifted in 2018 after the courts in Florida had demanded unanimous recommendations in the death penalty in cases of death penalty.

On April 20, 2023, a jury was sitting for the sale of the accused. On the same day, however, the Republican governor Ron Desantis signed a draft law that approved a new non -unanimous conviction of 8 to 4 in capital cases, which led to a Mistrial.

Last month, a new jury was sitting for this resentment and performed according to the new law.

Although the jury makes this recommendation, the final judgment decision is the judge. The honorable Dawn Nichols will make a penalty after a further hearing.

“We are a step closer to make justice for the victims and their families reality,” said prosecutor RJ Larizza about the case.

The deputy prosecutors Heatha Trigones and Andrew Urbanak successfully spoke for the death penalty for the state.
