Harley Rider killed after reaching a fallen pension line in Aiken County

A motorcyclist was killed on Friday evening after, according to the authorities and a witness at the crime scene, he had beaten a supply line about the Edging Road in Aiken County.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Edgefield Road and the Sweetwater Road. The victim, 53-year-old Jammy Weaver from Johnston, South Carolina, drove south in 2004 on the 2004 Harley-Davidson.

According to the Coroner's Office of the Aiken County, Weaver was declared dead at 11.10 p.m. An autopsy is planned for next week in Newberry.

A witness, Troy Walters, said online that a semi-racket was going through the intersection before the crash and hit the traffic light rod mast that lowered the overhead utility lines. Others say the bar just fell.

Weavers motorcycle collided with one of these cables when he entered the intersection, the authorities said.

Sweetwater Road and Edgefound Road are shown in this Google Maps picture of 2024.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Coroner's Office of the Aiken County continue to examine the incident.
