The reports of large crimes in all of Brookly have dropped by 3% in April compared to the same period of the previous year – while crime has dropped every month, the decline shrinks when the warmer weather approaches.

In January, the violent crime in King's County decreased by 27% compared to the previous year. It was 16%in February and 6%in March.

And while Brooklyn's collective crime rate had dropped this month, the tariffs of the seven great crimes – murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, Grand Theft and Grand Theft Auto – rose in 12 from Brooklyn's 23 police districts.

The rape continued to rise when other crimes decreased, and the statistics were only 2.1% back in the entire district-with 40 rapes from April 1 to 27 compared to 41 in the same period of the previous year.

In the city, rape increased by more than 20% in the first quarter of 2025 and 24.6% in April. NYPD officers have claimed that the increase is partially due to a change in state law that “expanded the definition of sexual assault. In Brooklyn, sexual crimes rose by 14%apart from rape in April.

Outside of serious crimes, transit crimes rose by 19%compared to the previous year, with 31 incidents being reported across Brooklyn compared to 26 in the previous year. Hass crimes rose dramatically and rose from 16 to 29 by 81%.
