The former St. Johns Star becomes Rau

RJ Luis Jr. had an incredible season with the red storm of St. John and he was one of the most important reasons why Rick Pitinos squad won the Big East tournament.

After entering the transmission portal and after the NBA design of the combine, the star guard is in a hard point.

Kyle Boone from CBS Sports recently called Luis one of the “losers” of the NBA design Combine when he did not appear under this year's design class.

“After a career year at St. Johns, the Red Storm was no longer interested in the transfer portal under Rick Pitino and did not flash it to a large scale in this week,” wrote Boone.

“In the two scrimmages in which he played, he took 11 out of 29 shootings and was in the two games a -41. Luis Jr. is the No. 4 player in the ranking of 247Sports' transfer portal and would do it good to lead it again in college.”

Luis still has the potential to be a solid player at the next level. During his junior year in St. Johns, he scored an average of 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

However, as Boone mentioned, Luis could benefit from another year in college before jumping to the professionals to iron some of his efficiency numbers. Luis only shot 43.9 percent of the ground and 33.6 percent behind the bow, for an EFG% of 48.3.

The only question is where and which level will Luis play next season?
