Walker Buehler should return on Tuesday

Boston-die Startrotation of the Red Sox should get a thrust on Tuesday, with the right-handed Walker Buehler is expected to decide the 15-day injured list to face the New York Mets in Fenway Park.

Before the Red Sox took the Atlanta Braves on the field on Saturday, Buehler threw 62 pitches over three innings in live work. He believes that he can throw 85-90 parking spaces in his return.

“I don't think I will go 110,” he said in the clubhouse before the game.

The 30-year-old Buehler was placed on the IL on May 2 with a right shoulder inflammation. Buehler had won each of his last three starts and had no more than three runs in four consecutive excursions.

“I don't think we would have done exactly the same things if it were late a year,” admitted Buehler. “But just too early in the year to try to push it. We are all good now.”

Buehler is 4-1 with an ERA of 4.28 ERA in his six starts since they signed a contract for a year of $ 21.05 million with the Red Sox in this off-season.

Richard Fitts is one or two steps behind Buehler, threw 4 40 pitches to Romy Gonzalez, David Hamilton and Connor Wong on Saturday.

“He threw the ball well,” said manager Alex Cora. “We will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we will depict it.”

The right -hander has been on the injured list since April 13, after he had tensed a chest muscle during a game against Chicago White Sox.

Cora also presented an update via Gonzalez, which after a collision on the first basis suffered a quad injury against the Texas Rangers in May.

“Romy's thing is currently bothering him when he slowed down,” said Cora. “He can go into a sprint, but when he slows down, it bothers him, his legs.

“(He took live (impact practice) today. He feels swinging, he is in a good place. I don't know if it is tomorrow, but it should be soon. I really think so.”

Cora confirmed that Gonzalez would not have to go to Triple-A for a rehab order. If he is ready to go, it will be for Boston.
