1 dead, 3 injured in Las Vegas Athletic Club Shooting; Suspicious killed

May 17 (Upi) – A man with a long weapon entered a gym at Las Vegas Athletic Club on Friday afternoon and killed an employee and injured three more before the police shot him.

The shootout occurred around 1:30 p.m. PDT at the LVAC location on Lake Mead and Rainbow Blvd. The Las Vegas Review journal reported in the northwest of Las Vegas.

The athletic club officers identified the late shooting victim on Saturday as long -time employee Edgar Quinonez.

“Edgar was a beloved part of the LVAC family for 15 years,” said the LVAC on Saturday in an Instagram post.

“During this time he became so much more than a colleague. He was a source of friendliness, commitment and positivity,” said the LVAC. “His presence has touched the life of so many members and teammates, and its effects will never forget.

“We pray for Edgar's family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.

The local police reacted to the scene within minutes after the shootout and shot the suspect, which was taken to a local hospital and declared dead.

The three surviving shooting victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police have not announced the name of the shooter or a possible motive for the attack.
