Hacker had just picked up dinner and drove home to her boyfriend on the Twin Cities Memorial Highway when she was hit from behind by another car. According to the police of the city of Tonawanda, she died of the injuries she had suffered during the crash.

Relatives: “Really a great person”: Family remembers the 30-year-old Buffalo Hospital nurse who was killed when crashed

Her aunt, Cherie Trzepacz, said that Hacker had dedicated her life to help others as a nurse at Buffalo General.

“She devoted her life to help other people, you know and I'm just like justice?” Said Trzepacz. “This poor girl helps people out there and she went into a room, and if she didn't know her, she knew her when she left.”

Since then, the family has set up the Chelsea Hacker Memorial Fund in their honor. Her hope is to collect enough money to name a hospital wing after her – a permanent homage to someone who helps others to work her life.
