The city of Mcaadenville announces the death of the mayor

The city of McAadenville has announced that Mayor Jim Robinette died at the age of 80.

Robinette was appointed mayor in 2016. He was then elected in 2019 and then re -elected in 2023.

The mayor served in the United States army. He was a member of the city planning authority and the city council for almost 20 years, say officials.

“Mayor Robinette was devoted to McAadenville and the well-being of his residents. After lived in the city for over 45 years, he knew his history and traditions,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Reid Washam. “In addition, he respected this story and tradition. He was respected by the community how it was demonstrated by his appointment, election and repetitions. The city of Mcaadenville has lost an irreplaceable city official and friend.”

During his time as mayor, Robinette bought and turned the town hall, built the Mcadenville Greenway Park at the South Fork River and completed the South Fork sampling project.

His funeral will take place on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Carothers Funeral Home chapel. It is set to rest at 1 p.m. in the Gaston Memorial Park.
