Gang of thieves who conduct the crime in the USA

The Chilean police forces, supported by the FBI, resigned an international gang of thieves, which carried out robberies in the United States, the authorities announced on Wednesday.

The RAID, the code name “Operation Pennsylvania”, took place in dozens of houses in Santiago on Tuesday evening and, according to the police, led to an arrest of 23 people and a confiscation of 1.3 billion pesos (1.36 million US dollars) and real estate.

“Unfortunately, this phenomenon of international thieves has regretted many years in our country, but unfortunately it has been on the rise recently,” said prosecutor Eduardo Baeza during a press conference and added that they were historically operated in Europe, but has recently been more focused on the United States.

The Chileans were arrested in the recent top-class robberies, including the theft of the American Minister of Homeland Protection Minister Kristi Noem in a restaurant in Washington and a series of break-ins to the houses of professional athletes, including the football player of the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce, the friend of the pop stars Taylor Swift.

Details of the investigation

Johnny Fica, head of the Chiles (PDI) investigative police, money and asset washing department, said that many of the prisoners had no criminal records in Chile, but are career criminals abroad that wash assets in Chile.

Fica said the investigation began last year and was carried out by the FBI with information. Pictures from the RAID show drawers filled with iPhones, luxury watches, cars, wallets and shoes.

“What they see is part of a luxury life they had here in Chile. Many of them liked to show,” said Fica, adding that many of the groups were family or close units.

“Their goal was clear: they wanted to enjoy the profits of their crimes in this country, and they did not split on the expenses because they felt unpunished so far.”
