Brooklyn Bridge, who was hit by the Mexican Navy training ship, injured 19

Nineteen people were injured when a Mexican ship hit the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City on Saturday, official said.

Mayor Eric Adams said

“Nobody fell into the water, they were all injured in the ship,” said a NYPD official. “The ship, according to what I informed of the ship's superiors, was out to go to Iceland.”

Videos published online showed that the mast of the ship hit the bridge and broke apart.

Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, Mexican ambassador in the USA, said that the ship has been sailing for about 20 years and was from Cozumel, Mexico, to Iceland.

The police asked people to avoid the area around Brooklyn Bridge, including South Street Seaport in Manhattan and Dumbo in Brooklyn because of the collision. The bridge had been temporarily closed for traffic, but has been open again since then.
