Jets' Mark Scheifele scores the goal day after the sudden death of the father

Jets Center Mark Scheifele opened the goal on Saturday with a goal after finding out that his father Brad died unexpectedly and stayed in the air for hours after his status.

“This is for you, Papa!” The Sportsnet broadcaster said according to the goal, and the Jets's X account wrote that the destination should “be” in the middle of the second period.

According to Cheveldayoff, other players were informed about the death of Scheifele's father on Saturday morning.

“It's a terrible defeat,” said Winnipeg captain Adam Lowry. “It is difficult to put into words, how disappointed we all feel for Mark and his family.

“This is such a big loss, that's your mentor, that's the person you grew up. So is the person you want to be. I think there are only a lot of small things you have to do to really ensure that Mark is supporting and going forward today.”
