Clearwater Ferry Crash

What we know:

Officials said the crash of Clearwater Ferry was near the Memorial Causeway Bridge, which connects the downtown of Clearwater with Clearwater Beach. The crash occurred on Sunday between 8:30 p.m. and 8.40 p.m. when a leisure boat hit the ferry.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that more than 40 people were on board the Clearwater ferry at the time of the crash and were six people on board the 37-foot leisure boat.

The letter states Knight, “told the captain of the ferry boat that he could transport injured people to the Morton Plant Hospital. This offer was rejected.”

The lawyer said Knight had only left when rescue workers arrived and his boat accepted too much water.
