Caretaker of the Livingston Parish School accused of harassing juvenile | crime

A 38-year-old man from Denham Springs, who works as a caretaker at a public school in Livingston, was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's office for abuse of children.

Jason Ard, Sheriff of the Livingston Parish, said: “On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, members of the Livingon Parish Sheriff's Office Special Sacrifice (SVU) from Livingon Parish School official were contacted, with regard to an assertion of the inappropriate behavior of the school lawyer, in which a youth administration is present during the investigation. The elementary school was the elementary school during the examination.

LPSO confirms that Abery has been instructed in the Livingston Parish Detention Center and the examination of the LPSO has not yet been completed.

Jody Purvis, superintendent of the Livingston Parish School, made an explanation on Friday morning in which he recognized the arrest and described the reaction of the district to the investigation.

Purvis said: “Christopher Aberry's arrest follows an investigation that was initiated by the seventh elementary administration in the community and continued by the LPSO. Abery was put on administrative vacation with the district and is not present on the campus.

“Abery has been in the district since August 2024. According to his records, he met all the requirements for onboarding, including the criminal background check, in accordance with the statutory provisions that are necessary under state law.

“The district will follow all applicable guidelines and procedures, including the use of guidelines -GBK, discipline and the guidelines of the guidelines, the dismissal of employees, after completion of investigations.

“The LPSO will manage the examination and all inquiries in connection with the arrest and examination should be carried out on the LPSO.

“Livingston Parish Public Schools is committed to the security and well -being of all students and employees, since our administration will continue to work fully with the law enforcement authorities throughout the course of the investigation.”
